Hotfixes: November 10, 2023, Forest Lord’s Antlers & Memory Leak Issues

Quote from: Blizzard

November 10, 2023

Achievements

  • Treasures of the Emerald Dream again rewards the Forest Lord’s Antlers.
    • Developers’ notes: While this was originally intended to be the reward for the Dream On achievement, a bug resulted in it being rewarded by the Treasures of the Emerald Dream achievement, so we’re going to leave it there permanently and look for something else to potentially reward for Dream On.

Classes

  • Druid
    • Guardian
      • Fixed an issue causing Innate Resolve to not correctly increase Frenzied Regeneration healing.
    • Restoration
      • Abundance stacks will no longer incorrectly decrease if you happen to have more Rejuvenations active than the maximum amount of Abundance stacks.
  • Evoker
    • Fixed an issue that caused Evokers who used a Boost to lose 10 item levels.

Emerald Bounty

  • Fixed an issue with Scurfpea bloom chest not showing.
  • Fixed an issue where Dream Daisys might report an active chest you did not have.
  • Dragon’s Daffodil should no longer occasionally report an active chest that is not there.
  • The user interface at Lavatouched Lilies should now reflect contributions correctly.

Items

  • Reduced the Spirit effect on the Imbued Frostweave Slippers by 70%.
    • Developers’ notes: After reviewing the performance of this effect, we’ve decided to pull it back quite a bit as to not overshadow other items to the degree that it is. While this is a fun effect that will remain, we feel these slippers don’t necessarily need to be a required optimization for healers.

Quests

  • Alt player-characters can now complete the World Quest “Dryad Fire Drill” without completing Chapter 1.
  • Fixed an issue preventing completion of the Hunter Class Hall Campaign quest “Survive the Night”.

Forest Lord’s Antlers

Quote from: Blizzard

As of a hotfix that went live a few minutes ago, the Treasures of the Emerald Dream achievement again rewards Forest Lord’s Antlers.

If you’ve completed the achievement and not received the reward, logging out and back in should do the trick.

Memory Leak Issues

Quote from: Blizzard

We’ve identified and are working on a fix for unbounded memory growth that’s affecting Windows users using DX11 and all Mac users.

We should ideally have a hotfix build deployed early next week with the fix.

In the meantime, typing /console gxrestart in chat should cause the client to jump back down to normal memory usage (but will keep growing again after).
On Windows, using DX12 or DX11 Legacy backends should avoid the bug all together.

For those curious about the code side of things, the bug was an std::deque::clear() call that was incorrectly placed in a code block that is only compiled in for internal clients. That made it so the bug never happened for us in internal testing but had the unbounded growth in public clients.

Hotfixes: November 9 2023, Trophies of Strife, Raid Item Tuning Before November 14

Quote from: Blizzard

November 9, 2023

Classes

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the talent frame to show the incorrect number of points on talents when trying to refund talent points for Priest, Demon Hunter, and Rogue.
  • Druid
    • Guardian
      • Fixed an issue causing Blood Frenzy to not benefit from Haste or Cycle of Life and Death.
  • Priest
    • Discipline
      • Ultimate Penitence now clears root effects when cast, instead of returning the error message “You are unable to move.”

Items

  • Fixed an issue with Paracausal Fragment of Thunderfin, Humid Blade of the Tideseeker where the trinket effect was not functioning properly.
  • The Sarannis’ Mystic Sheen absorb is reduced by 68% and the cloak now has primary stats.

Professions

  • You can now place crafting orders for Mark of the Auric Dreamstag.
  • Alchemy
    • Fixed an issue that prevented Phial and Potion cauldrons from being usable in non-keystone Mythic dungeons.
    • Fixed an issue that sometimes allowed for Phial auras to persist in rated PvP environments and Battleground Blitz.
  • Jewelcrafting
    • Cataclysm Jewelcrafting figurines now drop for all classes to aid with completion of the Fantastic Figurines achievement.

Reputation

  • Dream Wardens reputation from Emerald Dewdrop contributions into Medium and Large Emerald Blooms during Emerald Bounty now reward a large amount of reputation with the first five each week.

User Interface

  • The Quest Journal will now properly display the Emerald Dream portal in the Emerald Conclave in Valdrakken.

Trophies of Strife

Quote from: Blizzard

Shortly after maintenance on Tuesday, we applied a hotfix that inadvertently caused certain rewards from the upcoming PvP season to become available to players purchasable with Season 2 currencies, specifically Trophies of Strife and the optional reagents used to add PvP item level onto crafted items. We have since deployed a fix for that situation and want to clarify what to expect for players who may have acquired them.

  • Trophies of Strife are no longer obtainable from the Sparks of Life quest for this week, and players who completed it during this window will have their currency reset to 0 at the start of Season 3. As there is nothing available this week to purchase with Trophies of Strife, players will not have an advantage over others.
  • Items crafted with the Verdant Trophies or Crests have had their PvP iLevel set to the equivalent honor and conquest equivalent of Season 2. Excess of these items have been converted to Poor quality and will not be usable for further crafting despite what their tooltip implies and should be vendored.
  • Once Season 3 begins on Tuesday, a new batch of Verdant reagents will be available from the vendors as intended. As always, you will be able to Recraft your existing gear with a Spark of Dreams to use these trophies. This includes players who may have used a Verdant Trophy or Crest this week.

Additionally, we’d like to take this opportunity to clarify a couple things going into the new season.

  • PvP gear of all sorts has been migrated into the new upgrade system and will require Flightstones and Crests to upgrade rather than Honor or Trophies of Strife.
  • Trophies of Strife will be used to purchase the upgraded version of War Mode gear (486 PvP iLevel) directly from Malicia herself. These items will only cost Bloody Tokens and Trophies of Strife; you do not need the base item to upgrade.
  • Trophies of Strife are now a currency with a catch-up mechanism built in. Beginning on Week 2, although visible from Week 1, players who fall behind their weekly Sparks of Life quest can purchase catch-up Trophies of Strife for 3500 honor each until you have caught up.

Raid Item Tuning Before November 14

Quote from: Blizzard

As players prepare to face off against Fyrakk and his allies in Amirdrassil, we’re making a final round of tuning changes to the forthcoming raid trinkets. The following adjustments are listed in comparison to how these items previously performed on the Guardians of the Dream PTR.

Aside from addressing unexpected extreme outliers or bugs that might arise, we hope to need no further tuning changes until after players have defeated Fryakk on Mythic difficulty.

Blossom of Amirdrassil

  • Fixed an issue where the periodic healing effects could not critically heal.
  • All effects increased by 5%.

Smoldering Seedling

  • Bonus healing per ally healed increased to 30% (was 20%).
  • Developers’ note: While not directly increasing the trinket’s power potential, this will allow players to achieve that potential more readily.
  • Healing effect cap increased by 5%.

Cataclysmic Signet Brand

  • Damage decreased by 10%.

Augury of the Primal Flame

  • Damage increased by 5%.

Fyrakk’s Tainted Rageheart

  • Lash damage decreased by 21%.
  • Absorb increased by 50%.
  • Passive area-of-effect damage decreased by 20%.
  • Developers’ note: This trinket became more powerful than intended after a previous tuning iteration. The lash and absorb changes represent a budget-neutral readjustment while the passive AOE effect was scaling too effectively in multitarget situations.

Ashes of the Embersoul

  • Primary stat granted increased by 30%.
  • Primary stat on use now decays every 2 seconds (was 3 seconds) to align evenly with the duration.
  • Fixed an issue where immunity abilities could be used to remove the Haste debuff.

Hotfixes: November 8, 2023

Quote from: Blizzard

November 8, 2023

Dragonriding

  • Fixed an issue where Dragon Glyph Resonance was not appearing for specific mounts.

The Emerald Dream

  • Firebrand Fystia now correctly knows when she’s dead, and no longer shows up on the zone map.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Seedbloom from being rewarded through the completion of the weekly Blooming Dreamseeds quest. Additionally, if you completed the quest before our hotfix went out, go to the Emerald Dream and then check your mail. The local postmaster should be sending out replacement Seedblooms.
  • Filling up a Dreamseed with Emerald Dewdrops should now grant reputation with the Dream Wardens.

Player versus Player

  • [With realm restarts] Fixed an issue where Temple of Kotmogu and Silvershard Mines in the Deep Six brawl could have a maximum of 8 players.

Quests

  • The Timewalking weekly quest “A Savage Path Through Time” again properly rewards a chest containing random Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible items.

Reputation

  • Fixed an issue that prevented players who used a level 70 Boost from being able to obtain the intended Renown with Dragonflight factions. Players who have remained logged into the game may need to log out and back into the game on any affected boosted characters.

The hotfix notes for the previous patch can be found here.

Quote from: Blizzard

At about 00:21 CET today, to address a situation where Dream Wardens Renown could be infinitely farmed, we temporarily hotfixed the game to limit impact while we investigated the situation and evaluated our options. What we did at that time was to make it so that contributing only Dewdrops in the Emerald Bounty no longer granted Rep, while contributing seeds (any seed) to the Emerald Bounty did grant Rep.

We don’t want the most efficient way to max out a Renown to be pure grinding. So with a hotfix that we applied to the game at about 04:24 CET, we’ve reinstated Dream Wardens Rep from Dewdrop contributions into Medium and Large Emerald Blooms, with a large up front Rep bonus to the first five each week. It will remain open-endedly grindable, and for anyone who was doing a moderate number of seeds per week, it will be a net improvement.

We apologize for the confusion today.

Patch 10.2 Final PTR Development Notes 6 November 2023, Item Conversions with Guardians of the Dream

Quote from: Blizzard

Here is the latest updates to the Guardians of the Dream PTR. The patch notes article will be updated with this information shortly.

DRAGONFLIGHT SEASON 3

  • At the beginning of Season 3 (November 14 in this region), Keystones will drop 11 levels in addition to any normal weekly reduction that may have occurred. Here’s what that might look like:
    • Example 1: You completed a +15 the week of November 7-14, but didn’t time it. The resulting key would normally drop by 1 level, because your highest key wasn’t timed (15 > 14). It will then drop an additional 11 levels due to the season rollover decay (14 > 3).
    • Example 2: You timed a +15 the week of November 7-14. The resulting key would normally be level 15, because you had timed the 15 last week. But would then drop the additional 11 levels due to season rollover decay (15 > 4).

DUNGEONS AND RAIDS

  • MYTHIC+
    • AFFIXES
      • Pools of Sanguine Ichor are now treated as connected, and moving between connected pools will no longer apply an additional application of Sanguine Ichor.

ITEMS

  • PROFESSIONS
    • Undulating Sporecloak shield and healing reduced by 79% (was 50%), Versatility reduced by 75% while above 70% health, and healing over time effect reduced by 80%.
      • Developers’ note: We are making some adjustments to the values of Undulating Sporecloak’s bonuses in Guardians of the Dream. In Fury Incarnate, it provides healing at high health and an absorb shield when you fall to low health. In Guardians of the Dream, to preserve its oscillating fantasy, we made the absorb shield less effective at protecting players who make otherwise fatal mistakes in exchange for rewarding safe gameplay with a Versatility bonus when above 70% health. This Versatility, after playtesting, provided more throughput than intended. Today’s number changes to the Guardians of the Dream version keep the cloak as a solid option for players who want more defensiveness, but reduce its throughput value compared to other Embellishments offered by Professions.
Quote from: Blizzard

With the Guardians of the Dream patch, the following conversions will happen:

  • Flightstones earned in Dragonflight Season 2 will be converted to gold.
  • Shadowflame Crests and Crest Fragments will become grey items.

As we outlined here, you’ll resume earning Flightstones and start receiving the new Dreaming Crests currency and Spark of Dreams crafting reagent in Guardians of the Dream.
