Shadowlands Season 4 Ends Soon and a Look at Post-Season

Quote from: Blizzard

As we continue to move toward the launch of Dragonflight, the last season of Shadowlands is coming to an end. While some rewards are being retired, others will still be obtainable throughout the Dragonflight pre-expansion period until the Dragon Isles officially become available for play.

What is Going Away?

When Season 4 ends, the following rewards will no longer be available:

  • Mythic+ Dungeons
    • The “Shrouded Hero” title awarded by the “Shrouded Hero: Shadowlands Season 4” achievement. Titles will be awarded to eligible players after the Season ends.
  • Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds
    • The “Eternal Gladiator”, “Hero of the Horde: Eternal”,  and “Hero of the Alliance: Eternal” titles. Titles will be awarded based on rating cutoffs that you check on our PvP Leaderboards.
    • Rank achievements (such as Duelist: Shadowlands Season 4) and their respective titles.
    • Rank awarded Elite Transmogrification (transmog) appearances (Armor, Weapon Illusion, Cloak, Tabard).
    • Progress towards the Gladiator: Shadowlands Season 4 achievement (and associated mount reward).

Note: If you are eligible to receive one of the rewards listed above, we recommend you refrain from using any character services like Race Change, Faction Change, or Character Transfer until you receive your rewards, to avoid any issues.

For specific timing of the end of the season for your region, read this forum post.

What Happens During the Post-Season Period?

Once Shadowlands Season 4 has ended, the following rewards will continue to be available until Dragonflight launches:

  • Mythic+ Dungeons
    • The Shadowlands Keystone Master: Season 4 achievement and the Restoration Deathwalker mount.
    • Keystone Hero achievements, along with their dungeon-specific teleport rewards.
    • Mythic+ rating can be earned and increased as you complete higher Keystones.
    • Valor Points can be earned and used to upgrade gear based on your rating.
    • Great Vault progress can be accrued for weekly rewards.
  • PvP
    • You can continue to queue for rated Arena and rated Battleground matches.
    • PvP rating can still be earned and increased as you win rated matches.
    • Vicious Mount progress will continue.
    • Vicious Saddle progress (if Vicious Mount is finished) can continue.
    • Honor and Conquest can be obtained and used to upgrade gear based on your rating.
    • Great Vault progress can be accrued for weekly rewards.
  • Fated Raids
    • After Season 4 ends, all Shadowlands Raids will become Fated permanently until Dragonflight launches.
    • The achievement “Fates of the Shadowlands Raids” along with Jigglesworth Sr. can be obtained, along with the “Hero of Fate” and raid teleports for completing Fated Shadowlands raids on Heroic and Mythic difficulties, respectively.
    • Puzzling Cartel Dinars will continue to be available.
    • Confounding Antique Cypher (Heroic) and Confounding Ancient Cypher (Mythic) can still be obtained to upgrade items.
    • Great Vault progress can be accrued for weekly rewards.

‘Tis the Season

The time is drawing near to give Shadowlands Season 4 its proper sendoff, but there’s still many adventures to be had before we set on the road to the Dragon Isles. We’ll see you in Azeroth!

Shadowlands Season 4 Ending Soon

It looks like the Dragonflight Prepatch is in 2 weeks! While there has not been an official confirmation yet, the end of season date has just been announced for the 25th/26th of October. With previous expansions the end date for the final season has usually meant the release of the prepatch for the next expansion. So although we can’t be 100% sure, it is quite likely we’ll see the 10.0 patch make its way to the live servers in just 2 short weeks.

Quote from: Blizzard

Greetings Champions.

Shadowlands Season 4 will be closing the week of October 25. Here’s what you can expect:

Shadowlands Season 4: PvP

  • The current season of Shadowlands PvP content will end at 10:00 p.m. the night before maintenance begins in each region. This is 10:00 p.m. PDT for North American realms and 22:00 CEST for European realms.
  • With the season’s end, it will no longer be possible to earn PvP seasonal rewards, titles, or Shadowlands Season 4 rankings.

Shadowlands Season 4: Mythic+

  • The current season of Mythic+ content will end with the start of regional maintenance (October 25 in NA / October 26 in EU / October 27 in Asia). With the season’s end, ratings that qualify for the 0.1% “Shrouded Hero” achievement will be recorded.
  • The title “the Shrouded” will be rewarded during the following weeks after the season ends, so be sure to wait if changing factions until after you have received the title.

Best of luck battling to a glorious finish of the season!

The Winds of Wisdom 50% Experience Buff Returns!

Quote from: Blizzard

If you’re just returning after a hiatus from World of Warcraft, leveling another character (or two), or preparing to get ready for the Dragonflight expansion then this is the perfect time to jump into the game. Beginning the week of October 4 with each region’s local weekly reset, all World of Warcraft* players level 10-59 will gain the experience buff called “Winds of Wisdom,” which will increase experience gains by 50%!

Don’t delay. The winds will shift once more when the new dracthyr Evoker becomes playable during the Dragonflight pre-expansion patch, and the experience buff will no longer be available.

* Experience boost not available in World of Warcraft Classic titles.

Dragonflight Beta Heading Into New Phase: Class Tuning & Raid Testing, Feedback: Evokers, Hotfixes: September 23, 2022

We got a couple of blue posts last night on the Dragonflight Beta forums and it looks like we’re heading into the next phase of testing! They are overall satisfied with the state of the Talent trees coming to the servers in the next Beta build and will now be focused on tuning. Additionally raid testing will start next week! All bosses except the last boss will be tested in the next 3 weeks.

Other than that they also announced the Preservation (Healing) Evoker spells will be getting a range increase to 30 yards instead of 25.

On the Shadowlands side of things we got a small hotfix for Solo Shuffle.

Dragonflight Class Design Progress

Quote from: Blizzard

We feel it would be useful to let everyone know where we are in the development of Dragonflight classes and talent design. With the next Beta/PTR build, we’re transitioning away from spending the majority of our time on the design iteration of the new talent trees, and we’re now primarily focused on fixing bugs and tuning the game. This includes balancing talent choices against each other and tuning the throughput of each class. We want to ensure that we release an expansion of the highest quality for this incredible community.

That being said, the new talent systems constitute a tremendous change to the game and represent a fundamental overhaul to how classes and specializations are customized by players. It is our expectation that we will be making adjustments based on your feedback throughout the expansion’s lifetime. We greatly appreciate all of your testing and feedback thus far, and we’re looking forward to delivering improvements to all of the talent trees in content updates throughout Dragonflight.

Vault of the Incarnates Raid Testing Schedule

Quote from: Blizzard

The raid testing schedule is very fluid and subject to the realities of a test environment. There’s the possibility of having to change the time of a testing session, change the bosses being tested, or cancel a test entirely due to bugs, server hardware issues, etc.

We’ll be updating this schedule with boss details as we get closer to their testing dates. Keep an eye on the Dragonflight Beta forum for the boss feedback threads and the latest information. Thank you in advance for testing and providing feedback.

Vault of the Incarnates Raid Testing Schedule

The final boss of Vault of the Incarnates, Raszageth the Storm-Eater, will not be available for testing.

Q: How do I get into the raid zone?

A: In Valdrakken, Orgrimmar, or Stormwind, you may speak to Nexus-Lord Donjon Rade V in order to teleport into the raid zone while it is open for testing. (The option to teleport into a zone will not be available when the zone is not open for testing.)

Q: What character should I use to test the raid?

A: Whichever you prefer. We will be scaling players’ effective level to 70 for raid testing, and their item level to an appropriate threshold for the encounter(s) being tested.

Q: How long does testing last?

A: The primary purpose of testing is to give us the information we need to balance the encounters, evaluate how mechanics are playing out in practice, and identify bugs. Once we’re satisfied that we’ve received that information for a given boss, we’ll be shutting down testing. Usually this takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, but there are no guarantees.

Q: How do I report feedback or bugs?

A: We’ll be posting encounter feedback threads each week prior to the start of the raid tests. Additionally, you can also submit your feedback through the in-game Issue Reporter tool.

Feedback: Evokers

Quote from: Blizzard

In the next beta build, we are making some updates to address concerns regarding Preservation Evoker’s healing range. We have been reading feedback and observing playtests, and agree that the 25 yard range is a little too prohibitive when combined with the frequent casting requirements of empower spells. To address this, we’re doing the following:

  • All of Preservation Evoker’s healing and utility spells will now be at 30 yards baseline.
  • The cooldowns for Dream Breath and Spiritbloom are being increased slightly, with Preservation’s overall healing efficacy being increased to compensate.
    • This should mean you have to stand still and cast empower spells less often, but when you do they will be more impactful, and your healing in-between those moments will also be more impactful.
  • Hover will now have a shorter lock-out time, so you can more quickly cast spells after using Hover.

We are interested in delivering on a mobile, mid-range healer. We want to make sure tools like Hover, Verdant Embrace, Echo, and Rescue are flexible and powerful enough to compensate for a lower range. Please continue testing and providing feedback, and let us know if these tools are working well alongside the changes above. We will continue to listen to feedback and make sure Evoker is a powerful and exciting new class to play!

Quote from: Blizzard

Will Living Flame for Preservation have a 30 yard healing range, and a 25 yard damage range?

Living Flame’s range will be 30 yds for both the damage and healing effect, for Preservation.

Will Devastation also see a 30 yard range for its shared healing and utility spells, or will those remain at 25 yards?

All of Devastation’s spells, including Living Flame, will remain at 25 yd range (ones that are already higher, like Deep Breath and Time Spiral, are not changing). Raid frames will be updated for both specializations to show allies as out-of-range based on their primary range – frames will dim for Devastation when allies are more than 25 yds away, and they will dim for Preservation when allies are more than 30 yds away.

On a related note, the change to Hover’s lock-out time does apply to Devastation.

Empowered spells are not affected by haste. Is there a reason for this?

It is a bug that empower spells’ tooltips do not update their cast time to reflect haste. We’ve verified internally that empower spells are charging faster with haste, as intended.

Is there any consideration for letting us Hover mid-cast, and/or Hover cast Empowered spells?

We are not planning to make Hover castable while casting at this time, for a few reasons. Philosophically, activating an ability is a decision that should have some cost. Costs are an important part of what allow an ability to be both powerful & balanced. Costs also add depth, and the potential for skill growth: A player who has learned an encounter, or correctly identifies that an engagement is imminent in PvP, can plan when to activate Hover without disrupting their own spell flow, and thereby express mastery.

On the technical side, Hover requires you to be inputting a direction in order to determine which way your character dashes. Even if it were castable while casting, if a player wanted to dash sideways during Disintegrate, the game requires that they input a strafe command before casting Hover, and that movement input would cancel Disintegrate. Hover can be cast “in place” without causing a dash, but we feel that the disconnect there (being able to Hover-in-place, but not dash-Hover, while casting) is an unintuitive middle ground that would be frustrating for many.

Hotfixes: September 23, 2022

Quote from: Blizzard

September 23, 2022

Player versus Player

  • Solo Shuffle
    • Resolved an issue that could allow players to gain mana regeneration from food summoned by Mages.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic

  • Raids will now count towards the 5 instance-per-hour limit.
    • Developers’ notes: The hourly instance limit prevents players from entering instances that they’ve entered at least once already within the last hour. With this change, farming a dungeon should not prevent you from entering a raid instance, so long as you don’t attempt to reset and re-enter that raid instance multiple times.

Hotfixes: 22 September 2022, Dragonflight Beta: Mythic Ilvl Crafting Items

Last night a couple more hotfixes were released, including yet another fix to Hylbrande. Additonally the blues posted in response to some questions that you’ll be able to craft mythic raid ilvl items with professions. However the ilvl will be limited to the ilvl of the first couple of bosses. Every few bosses in the raid will drop higher ilvl gear, meaning that the very best ilvl gear will still come from mythic raiding.

Additionally it was made clear that only the receiver of the item (crafter for themselves, or the customer ordering the craft) can provide the necessary Bind on Pickup items to craft the item.

Hotfixes: 22 September 2022

Quote from: Blizzard

SEPTEMBER 22, 2022

Dungeons and Raids

  • Tazavesh: So’leah’s Gambit
    • Hylbrande
      • Added safeguards for an issue where Bypass Code auras may not apply to players who pick them up.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic

  • Brewfest’s Coren Direbrew dungeon is now available in the Group Finder for players over level 68.
  • It is now possible to get the Brewfest quest “Another Year, Another Souvenir” which rewards this year’s Brewfest Stein.
  • Fixed an issue where the Glyph of Horn of Winter prevented other Death Knights in your raid or party from using Horn of Winter.
  • Fixed an issue with Warrior’s Warbringer talent which prevented Intervene from breaking root effects.
  • Call to Arms Battlegrounds now reward the proper bonus Honor.
  • Quests that did not display completion text when being watched have been fixed and should display the text on what to do next under the objective tracker.

Dragonflight: Mythic Ilvl Crafting Items

Quote from: Blizzard

To answer a few questions:

Currently the first bosses.

Crafting quality 4 or 5 items would be hypothetically possibly early in the tier. It would take the cooperation of multiple crafters to make the best profession gear, reagents, and someone specialized in the item being made, but it should be possible (although difficult) very early on with enough concerted effort!

Quote from: Blizzard

To clarify on crafting orders and who can provide what:

Only the customer can provide:

  • Primal Chaos
  • Primal Focus or Concentrated Primal Focus (the optional reagent to raise item level for epic gear)

Either the customer or crafter can provide:

  • Any unbound reagents or optional reagents

As a general rule, if something is soulbound, it’s probably going to need to be provided by the customer.

There is one exception here that we aren’t 100% settled on:

  • Currently either the customer or crafter can provide the Artisan’s Mettle (recrafting will need some of this). It’s also needed for some higher end consumables that benefit professions and high end profession gear.

In general, the logic is that if it’s soulbound, it is that way because we want the player who will end up with the gear to need to take some effort to earn it, otherwise that reagent may as well be unbound and purchaseable on the auction house for gold.

Artisan’s Mettle is a bit of an exception because it’s a special reagent earnable within the profession ecosystem and only useful to those who are using a profession, or who are placing crafting orders. Keeping it from being tradeable means each crafter/gatherer needs to earn their own to help with their profession, but allowing it to be provided by either party during a crafting order means if you don’t engage in professions directly, you can still hit up a crafter to perform recrafting services for you.

Hotfixes: September 20 2022, Warcraft Short Story: Visage Day, Wrath Classic: History of Arthas Menethil Video, Dragonflight Beta Feedback: Warriors

We have all types of news to go through this morning! On the retail side of things a new round of hotfixes has gone out with yet even more fated raid fixes and an accessibility change for Hylbrande in Tazavesh. Blizzard also released one of the short stories from one of the recent Warcraft books: Visage Day.
With Wrath of the Lich King Classic releasing next week Blizzard has released a really good video in which Jaina explains the history of Arthas Menethil! And on the Dragonflight side of things the blues have posted an update for Warriors, saying they are fairly happy with Arms and Fury and will now focus more on Protection changes.

Warcraft Short Story: Visage Day

Quote from: Blizzard

Travel Azeroth with Chromie as she seeks wisdom from her fellow dragons in creating a visage, the mortal form dragons choose when coming of age.

“You must be Chronormu,” the dragon said with a polite bow of his head. “I am Kalecgos. It is an honor to meet you.”
The bronze bowed his head in response. “Delighted, Kalecgos! Zidormi speaks highly of you. Thank you for taking the time to see me. I can tell you’re very busy.”
Kalecgos smiled. There was something calm and gentle about him. “My master, Malygos, expects members of our flight to train relentlessly. But I can always find time to do a favor for a friend. Zidormi informed me that you seek guidance about your upcoming Visage Day?”
Chronormu gave a sober nod. “Indeed, and it is fast approaching. I find myself torn over which mortal form best represents who I am. I sought out my own master, and he suggested I try to learn from others who had already made their decision. If I may ask, Kalecgos, how did you choose a form?”

Dragonflight Beta Feedback: Warriors

Quote from: Blizzard

Hello, Warriors.

This week we’ve mostly been fixing errors and tweaking things for the Class, Arms and Fury trees. We’re happy with where these are at and don’t intend to make any large changes moving forward. Arms and Fury and the various options within seem to be preforming well and people are enjoying them, we’ll be monitoring feedback and tuning things where needed.

We’ve focused more on the Protection tree this week and provide more details on this below.

Class Tree

  • Bitter Immunity – Once again more easily available, but now no longer clears Bleeds.
  • Reinforced Plates – The armor values should now be correctly calculated.
  • Battle Stance – Now reduces the effects of Root and Snares by 10% (was 15%).
  • Berserker Stance – Now reduced the effects of incapacitating effects by 10% (was 15%).
  • Inspiring Presence – Tooltip updated to make its effect clearer.
  • Spear of Bastion – Now grants 20 Rage (was 25).
  • Elysian Might – Now extends the duration of Spear of Bastion by 2 seconds (was 4 seconds).
  • Piercing Verdict – Damage and Rage bonus increased to 50% (was 30%).
  • Endurance Training: Fury – Now increases Stamina by 5% and reduces the duration of moment impairing effects on you by 10%.
  • Endurance Training: Arms and Protection – Now increases Stamina by 5% and reduces the duration of Fear, Sap and Incapacitate effects on you by 10%.
  • Thunderous Roar – Now deals damage in a 12 yard radius (was a frontal cone) and also generates 10 Rage.
  • Shockwave – Now generates 10 Rage.
  • Avatar – Now grants 15 Rage (was 20).
  • Crushing Force: Protection – Tooltip should now correctly update granting 5% increased critical damage per rank.
  • Barbaric Training: Protection – Revenge damage reduced to 30% (was 40%).

Arms

  • Stormwall – Now has a lockout period of 1 second.
  • Dance of Death – Clarified tooltip to make it clear you are not required to get the killing blow.
  • Exploiter – No longer effects Cleave, the synergy here was odd and didn’t work in practice.
  • Fracture – Updated tooltip to not reference Thunderous Roar.
  • Bloodborne – No longer increased the damage of Rend’s initial strike.
  • Exploit the Weakness – Removed from the talent tree.
  • Deft Experience – Now grants 1% Mastery and increases Tactician’s chance to trigger by 0.5% per rank.
  • Rend – The initial strike of Rend’s damage has been increased to 64% damage (was 32%).
  • Massacre – Updated Massacre visuals.

Fury

  • Annihilator – Now generates 2 Rage per attacks.
  • Dancing Blades – Now triggers from procs correctly.
  • Annihilator – Can now be used with 2-handed weapons.
  • Rampage – Damage reduced to 206% (was 227%).
  • Hack and Slash – Was incorrectly triggering on every Rampage strike instead of casting Rampage. We like this functionality, so now Hack and Slash has a 20% chance with each Rampage strike to refund a charge of Raging Blow.
  • Storm of Steel – Now causes Ravager to generate 15 Rage per hit (was 10).
  • Critical Thinking – Now grants 1% critical strike chance per rank (was 1.5%) and the tooltip now correctly states that it affects Annihilator.
  • Annihilator, Slam, Thunderous Roar, Shockwave, and Odyn’s Fury should now gain extra Rage benefit from Recklessness.
  • Massacre – Updated Massacre visuals.
  • Wrath and Fury – Now increases Raging Blow’s damage by 10% (was 5%).
  • Slaugthering Strikes – Auras now display correctly for both Raging Blow and Annihilator, and it can now be triggered via Crushing Blow.
  • Bloodcraze – Can now be triggered via Bloodbath.

Protection Developer Notes

  • We’ve started to put more focus on the Protection tree this week and you’ll see a large update next week also.
  • We’re very happy with how Protection Warriors are playing, but they have been overperforming both in terms of survivability and damage, so we’ve made some tweaks to bring them more in line with the other tanking classes.
  • We don’t intend to make large structural changes to Protection Warrior’s trees, our goals for the next week are mainly around bug fixing, tuning and to make the bottom left and right sides of the tree more appealing.
  • We’ve made some changes to the baseline Vanguard ability to account for the large amount of survivability bonuses available in the talent tree.

Protection

  • Deep Wounds – Should now trigger Bloodsurge correctly.
  • Titanic Throw – Fixed an issue causing Titanic Throw to get the 100% bonus from Improved Heroic Throw twice.
  • Heroic / Titanic Throw – Now has a 3 second cooldown.
  • Auto-attack damage reduced by 20%.
  • Brace for Impact – Aura tooltip should now correctly reference Shield Slam. Now increases Shield Slams damage by 5% per stack (was 10%), but lasts for 15 seconds (was 9 seconds).
  • Spiked Shield – Now causes high threat.
  • New Talent: Dance of Death – If your Ravager helps kill an enemy your next Ravager lasts 2 seconds and deals 20% increased damage.
  • Champion’s Bulwark – Should now add to existing Shield Block durations.
  • Juggernaut – Has a maximum of 10 stacks for Protection specialization but last 20 seconds.
  • Massacre – Updated Massacre visuals.
  • Enduring Alacrity – Now grants 1% Haste per rank (was 2%).
  • Focused Vigor – Now grants 1% critical chance per rank (was 2%).
  • Vanguard – Increases your Stamina by 30% (was 45%), increases your Strength by 70% of your armor value (was 100%), and reduces damage you take by 5% (was 15%).
  • Revenge – Damage reduced to 53% (was 63%).
  • Shield Slam – Damage reduced to 80% (was 85%).
  • Punish – Shield Slam deals 10% increased damage (was 20%).
  • Best Served Cold – Revenge damage is now 10% (was 20%) and 30% when free (was 50%).
