PvP Tuning – 11 January 2019

After the hotfixes of the past days, more pvp tuning is coming before the end of the week!

Quote from: Blizzard

We’re currently working on some targeted adjustments to three specs in PvP. We don’t have a precise time these will go live, but we’re estimating late today or perhaps tomorrow afternoon:

Monk

Mistweaver

  • Surging Mist (PvP Talent) mana cost increased to 3.8% of base mana (was 2% of base mana), and healing reduced by 20%.
  • Way of the Crane (PvP Talent) increases physical damage by 25% (was 35%), and now heals for 150% of damage dealt (was 200%).

Shaman

Elemental

  • Earth Shock damage reduced by 10% when engaged in combat with enemy players.
  • Stormbringer increases Lightning Bolt damage by 115% when engaged in combat with enemy players (was 125%).
  • Surge of Power can now cause up to an additional 2 Lightning Bolt overloads against enemy players (was 3 additional overloads).

Druid

Balance

  • Celestial Alignment increases damage of your spells by 10% when engaged in combat with enemy players (was 15%).
  • Incarnation: Chosen of Elune increases damage of your spells by 18% when engaged in combat with enemy players (was 25%).
  • Shooting Stars now generates 2 Astral Power when engaged in combat with enemy players (was 4 Astral Power).

Our goal is to get these adjustments made before the weekend, and when they go live, we’ll confirm here in this thread, on @Warcraftdevs, and in the next updated to our Hotfixes blog post.

Blizzard Looking For Feedback – Island Expeditions, Mythic+ and Reaping Affix

In the last two days the blues have put up 3 feedback forums threads for players to give feedback! These are for Island Expeditions, Mythic+ dungeons and the new Reaping Affix for Mythic+ Season 2 (which can now be found on the patch 8.1.5 PTR). Be sure to give them your feedback, it’s the best way to get the game improved in a way you would enjoy it!

Island Expeditions

Quote from: Blizzard

Tides of Vengeance brought a number of changes to Island Expeditions. Now that these changes have been live for several weeks, we’re interested in hearing your thoughts.

  • How have the changes felt?
  • Have things improved?
  • Has anything gotten worse?
  • What rewards have you been getting?

Any general feedback about Island Expeditions is also welcome, but if you haven’t tried Islands since the update please go ahead and try out a few before commenting.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Mythic+

Quote from: Blizzard

The Tides of Vengeance update came with a fair few tweaks to Mythic Keystone Dungeons. Now that a few weeks have passed since the update went live, we wanted to take a moment to gather your thoughts are on the changes. This can be about anything you’ve experienced; be it specific dungeons, affixes, or the system as a whole.

If you haven’t yet tried some of the retuned dungeons I encourage you to try them out before commenting, particularly dungeons like Temple of Sethralis, King’s Rest, and Siege of Boralus, all of which received the biggest changes.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Reaping Affix – Patch 8.1.5 PTR

Quote from: Blizzard

Please feel free to use this thread to post your thoughts about and issues with the new Reaping affix in Mythic Keystone dungeons on the 8.1.5 PTR.

The affix was enabled earlier today, and testers should be able to obtain Mythic Keystones and then enter Keystone difficulties and experience it.

Class Tuning – 19 December

Quote from: Blizzard

With scheduled maintenance next week on 19 December, we’re focusing on shoring up a couple of specs that fell a little behind with Tides of Vengeance:

Druid

Feral

  • Damage of all abilities increased by 7%.

Mage

Frost

  • Damage of all spells increased by 3%.

Both of these adjustments will apply to PvP activities as well.

14 December Live Developer Patch 8.1 Q&A Summary

The Live Developer Patch 8.1 Q&A just concluded, here’s the summary of new information that was shared:

  • The lack of cross factions communication is intended as a barrier between the factions. However they have no issue with consented cross faction communication. They’re preparing a hotfix in which a new item will become available – the Elixir of Tongues. This will allow you to understand players of the opposite faction.
  • Mythic+ keys can no longer be deleted because it used to be like that in Legion. At the start of BfA it was hotfixed to be able to be deleted because players got a high level key in the first week of mythic+. In addition to that, by the deleting becoming possible a bunch of other bugs emerged. They want players to run different dungeons and be in the situation that players were in Legion in when it came to mythic+.
  • Likely at the beginning of next week a list of changes to trash abilities in dungeons will come out. In Legion a lot of analytics were focussed on boss encounters, but now they also have a lot more data on trash encounters. This means they can look at where adjustments have to be made in dungeons.
  • The new raid has not opened because cutting Uldir short is not something they want to do. It has only been open for 3 months.
  • Roughly every 2,5 weeks you’ll have earned enough Titan Residuum to buy an azerite armor piece equal to the mythic+ level you have been doing.
  • Going up each level of azerite gear (370 -> 385 -> 400 -> 415), it’ll take 3 times as much Titan Residuum to buy a piece. The weekly mythic+ chest will also give 3x as much residuum when you clear a mythic+10 key vs mythic+7 key.
  • They have plans to make the Heart of Azeroth more engaging. The Magni and azerite plot was at first a B plot for BfA. Moving forward it will become more important. As a system, they know they have to make the azerite system a lot deeper. The system works best when you have goals to achieve. On the other hand, it feels bad when you get a new item and you can’t use the bonuses yet. From rise of Azshara and beyond the azerite gear will have all the bonuses unlocked. The meaning of Heart of Azeroth level will shift to having effect on what the heart means for you.
  • When seasons 2 starts on january 23rd, the darkshore warfront will award higher (+15) item level rewards. Not everything will scale up when a new season starts (like Uldir). World quest rewards will have their maximum item level increased.
  • When heroic warfronts come in patch 8.2 both warfronts will be relevant for the players.
  • War mode phasing is region wide, not on a per server basis.
  • The rewards from Island Expeditions will likely become more targetable as the expansion progresses but they have nothing to share for now.
  • In season 2 once you earn the season mount the bar will reset and you’ll be able to obtain Vicious Saddles.
  • In early January there will be another Q&A focused on story and lore.

New Mount: Vulpine Familiar

Quote from: Blizzard

Fiercely intelligent and insatiably curious, this species of fox has travelled the Great Dark Beyond to seek the companionship of the greatest heroes of Azeroth. Vulpine Familiars are born daredevils, and any one of them would make a great companion on your adventures throughout Azeroth and beyond.

You’ll be ready to take on new adventures wherever you go with this clever new mount. Now available in the Blizzard shop and in-game shop.

BfA Pet Battle Trainer Experience Nerfs

Quote from: Blizzard

This was an intentional change.

With the new Family Battler achievement, we changed all of the Kul Tiras and Zandalar trainers to allow them to be battled at any time. This makes it so that players can complete the achievement at their leisure, rather than having to wait for a specific World Quest to become available.

At the same time, we increased the chance for pet leveling stones to be a World Quest reward, and reduced the chance of both battle pet bandages and War Resources to show up as potential rewards from pet battle World Quests.
