Bad Luck Protection Fyrrak Legendary

Quote from: Blizzard

Greetings heroes of the Dream!

While Mythic champions begin to harness the intense Shadowflame within Fyr’alath the Dream Render, we’d like to share some details on how other denizens of Azeroth may get their hands on this igneous item.

We have observed many thousands of Evokers swooping down into Aberrus to forge their new legacy and heard their triumphant roars echoing eternally upon acquiring Nasz’uro. We’ve also heard feedback about how this process felt for players and have made some adjustments for Fyr’alath’s acquisition with that in mind, in hopes of better aligning players’ chances and effort.

Fyr’alath can be obtained with any loot specialization for Death Knights, Paladins, and Warriors by defeating Fyrakk within the heart of Amirdrassil on all difficulties, which will be very rare on Raid Finder difficulty (when available) and significantly increases in drop rate with each difficulty. As with Nasz’uro, completion on higher difficulties will include your chances from all uncompleted lower difficulties that week–this also includes the cumulative increase in chances for future weeks.

The cumulative increase to your drop chances will now be available from all difficulties and will be directly represented by players receiving a Greater Ember of Fyr’alath when defeating Fyrakk. Additionally, defeating other encounters within Amirdrassil on Heroic or Mythic difficulty has a chance to award a Lesser Ember of Fyr’alath which will further attune you to the Shadowflame, increasing your cumulative chances on both difficulties. Beyond that, Fyr’alath will continue to drop as Group Loot from Fyrakk on Mythic difficulty at a greatly reduced chance.

We hope these adjustments allow this legendary to continue to serve as an aspirational goal for all players, while providing additional incentive and reward for those who wish to challenge themselves on higher difficulties.

Timing of Tuning

Quote from: Blizzard

This afternoon, we posted about class tuning that we’re doing tomorrow. These changes were informed by class performance over the first two weeks of the season.

When a new season begins, we collect a huge amount of data about class performance, item acquisition rates, PvP statistics, etc. During this time we will fix any critical, disruptive, or otherwise immediate problems that come up as quickly as we can. We also need to be careful about any changes we plan and ensure we have adequate data to make informed decisions, and then additionally need time for testing the changes we’re making to avoid further issues. Alongside the changes in the above link, we’re planning to send an additional batch of tuning changes that will be released during restarts on the week of December 5th, which will probably include some buffs and some nerfs.

We’ll continue to make adjustments regularly, based on data and feedback, but probably not as often later in the season compared to these early few weeks.

Rare Elites in Zaralek Caverns and Forbidden Reach, Update Coming to Gear from Rated PvP

Quote from: Blizzard

We’ve been closely reading your feedback about the recent changes to rare elite creatures in Zaralek Caverns and Forbidden Reach. A number of you have asked why we made this change, so we want to give some more explanation. We can also share a bit about what might happen next.

RareElites

(We’ll use Zaralek Caverns as the example for this explanation, but all points also apply to Forbidden Reach.)

As shown above, the Zaralek Caverns map regularly displayed 12-15 rare elite enemies available to kill at any given time. This was not an occasional jackpot moment. It was the default state of the zone for most players who came along. Because of this, we regularly saw players who might want to take down those rare elites, but they and other players were scattered around the zone. Due to the sheer number of different spawn points, players simply wouldn’t come across other players who were looking to fight the same rare, even in Group Finder. Yesterday’s hotfix was a step that we’re taking to focus attention on fewer rares at a time and encourage the glorious murderballs that we all know and love.

We’ve absolutely heard your feedback that this feels like a quality-of-life reduction, particularly if you’re hunting specific rare elites for rare cosmetic drops. We’re considering a couple of additional changes to address this:

  • We recently found an issue that was causing zones like Zaralek Caverns to be underpopulated. We’re working on a hotfix for that, and once we’ve deployed the fix, you should start seeing more players and have an easier time finding others to group with.
  • We’re planning to adjust the droprates of some rare cosmetics that come from these creatures. More details on that should be coming soon.

Thanks as always for your feedback; keep it coming!

Update Coming to Gear from Rated PvP

Quote from: Blizzard

We’ve heard quite a bit of feedback around the PvE upgrade tracks for gear from rated PvP sources: both the Great Vault and the Conquest vendor. Many of you are concerned that having the Conquest vendor sell gear on the Veteran track significantly reduces the potential PvE item level of most, but not all gear from rated PvP.

To address these concerns, next week we will take all Rated PvP gear on the Veteran track and move it to the Champion track. If the gear has been upgraded, it will keep its item level in this change (so Veteran 6 items will become Champion 2, Veteran 7 items will become Champion 3, and Veteran 8 items will become Champion 4). After the change is complete, current sources of Veteran Rated PvP gear will become sources of Champion Rated PvP gear.

After these changes, this means that all Conquest Gear will have a higher PvE item level potential than it did in Season 2. In Season 2, Conquest gear could be upgraded by Elite players to the equivalent of Champion 7. Once this change is complete, this gear will be upgradeable the same as any other Champion gear up to Champion 8.

This will continue to have no effect on PvP item levels.
