It’s been a long day full of panels and excitement here’s an overview of our coverage of day 1 of blizzcon!
This is the blog where we will be updating for the HS Fireside Chat once it starts at 00:30!
- Statistics about hearthstone today, to be taken with a grain (or more) of salt:
- The worst card: Magma Rager, Chance to win if drawn: 29%
- Angry chicken: if drawn 47% chance to win
- Defender of Argus 49.8% chance to win when drawn, but if played 52.6%chance to win
- The best “warrior” card during a period in october: Baron geddon. When drawn 56% chance to win. If played 60% chance. During this time it was mostly used in control warrior.
- Curse of naxxramas stats:
- It took an average of 2 attempts per boss to win on normal.
- It took an average of 9 attempts per boss to win on heroic. Up to 45 on heroic Kel’thuzad
- RNG is the least enjoyed part by players of Hearthstone
- Eric Dodds comes to the stage to talk about Goblins vs Gnomes
- It will be about the giant ridiculous inventions of destruction of these two races
- They wanted to do something different to the naxxrammas theme
- Goblins are focused on making an invention and then blowing the enemy up
- Gnomes are about accidentally turning things into other things and other accidents
- New minion type: Mech
- Harvest Golem will now be considered a Mech type card, along with other old cards that would make sense to be a mech type card
- Another concept: Piloted Mechs
- When the mechanical minion dies the pilot should come out
- Example: Deathrattle: Summon a random 2-cost minion.
- Another concept: Spare parts
- Deathrattle: add a spare card to your hand
- Such as whirling blades, give a minion +1 attack
- There are 7 spare parts in total
- Yong Woo takes the stage
- Spectator mode comes with the expansion!
- Players can choose to make their games invite only for spectator mode
- You can spectate both players at the same time!

We’ll be updating this liveblog with news from the blizzcon opening ceremony as things get announced!
- The ceremony started with videos of warcraft 1, 2 and 3 and then transitioned into World of Warcraft with the developers talking about it.
- Mike Morhaime comes on to the stage.
- Mike mentions the 20th anniversary of warcraft and the 10th anniversary of WoW.
- The documentary Looking For Group will premier tommorow at 5pm bizzcon time on the main stage.
- Afterwards it’ll be available on the website and youtube.
- In december a new charity pet will be released, proceeds will go to the red cross to battle the ebola virus.
- A sneak peak of the World of Warcraft movie will be shown in the special theater at blizzcon.
- fightforthehorde.com , fightforthealliance.com set up by Legendary pictures
- Heroes of the Storm new things:
- Jaina, Thrall, Lost Vikings as new heroes
- Sky Temple, tomb of the spider queen, new battleground
- Ranked Play
- Closed beta starts January 13th, 2015
- Production Director Jason Chayes enters the stage to talk about Hearthstone
- In December the android tablet version of HS will be released
- The first HS expansion will feature goblins and gnomes. “Goblins vs Gnomes”
- More than 120 new cards
- Explosive Sheep
- Annoy-o-tron
- It will release next month!!
- Game Director Dustin Browder takes the stage to talk about Starcraft 2 (The Legacy of the Void logo is showing in the background).
- Awesome new trailer shown for LotV
- It shows Xel’naga returning as a threat
- You will reunite the scattered Protos tribes.
- LotV is a standalone game and will not need the other two games to play
- The lurker is back
- New Archon mode, you and a teammate will work together to control a single base and a single army
- Chris Metzen enters the stage
- A new game/world is announced!
- Overwatch
- A new world that used to be in a warring state but now in peace due to overwatch
- A futuristic new world
- A cinematic showing peace at first and then showing new heroes/villains of the series that fight each other
- Game Director Jeff Kaplan takes the stage to continue talking about overwatch
- Overwatch is a team based multiplayer shooter
- Another overwatch video is shown
- It shows the different heroes in action
- Beta in 2015

Some time has passed since we last sat down and pow-wowed, and in that time a lot has happened. Since launching Hearthstone®: Heroes of Warcraft™ back in March, we’ve:
- Let players’ fingers do the dueling with the arrival of Hearthstone on iPad
- Survived the creepy-crawly wings of the floating necropolis of Naxxramas
- Added Windows 8 Touch compatibility
- Raised a mug in celebration of our 20 million players across the world
We’ve created this infographic to share some less well-known (but still important!) metrics we’ve hit together along the way. Check out just how many Hounds have been Unleashed, the number of minions turned to adorable Sheep, and other interesting statistics.
Throughout the past year, many of you have been asking about the release date for Hearthstone on Android. The team has been hard at work to bring Hearthstone to that platform, and is making great progress. We’re taking things one step at a time and we’ve got our sights set on a release for Android tablets, our next new platform, before the end of the year; we’ve just got a few more mana crystals to polish and some Angry Chickens to chase down.We’re also close to having Hearthstone out to our iPhone and Android phone users, but it’s become clear that we need a little more time to get that version right. While we have a build up and running internally, it needs a bit more work, and we don’t feel like we’ll be ready to share it with you until early next year. It’s very important to us that the phone experience for Hearthstone is just as accessible as the tablet and PC versions. One of the biggest challenges with that is revamping the user interface so it feels intuitive and offers the same quality Hearthstone experience, but this time from the palm of your hand.
Releasing Hearthstone on iPhone and Android phones is something we’re incredibly excited about, but ultimately we’d rather take the extra time to make Hearthstone’s user interface on the phone customized to feel great for the platform, rather than a port that doesn’t taken into account the limitations of a smaller screen.
As always, we can’t thank you enough for making the game what it’s become. From the never-ending Fireside Gatherings you’re hosting around the globe, to the insane victories you’re sharing via videos and streams—and even the tough love we get at times—we’re all constantly blown away by our amazing community.
