We’ll be liveblogging the Game Systems Panel here:
- They’re going to talk about items, professions, classes, demon hunters
- Artifacts and Class Halls:
- The Deadwind Harvester, a Scythe created by Sargeras. For the affliction Warlock.
- You’re going to open a gateway to a demon world.
- You’ll go into the catacombs of Karazhan and follow the steps of the dark riders.
- Every time you kill something you steal a soul, the artifact will light up and increase your spell damage.
- You will use Artifact Power to power up your artifact.
- Earn it from:
- Quest bosses
- Rare spawns
- Rare drops
- Dungeon/Raid Bosses
- Winning Arena/Battleground
- You will use it to unlock Artifact Traits. (similar to talents)
- Editor’s note: some of them are similar to the very old talent system that was used up to cataclysm
- You will be able to unlock all of the traits eventually
- Earn it from:
- You can loot relics to socket into your artifact to increase it’s power.
- They also give you bonus ranks to traits. E.g. if 1 trait has 3 ranks it could get a 4th rank!
- They’ll allow you to customize your character. Do you want to focus on burst damage? for example
- They have different types. For example the Scythe has 2 different slot types. Meaning you can put 2 relics in your artifact.
- At level 110 you can upgrade your artifact through a quest chain and dungeons.
- This will also unlock a new model.
- As previously announced, you’ll be able to unlock different colors for the same model.
- The Deadwind Harvester, a Scythe created by Sargeras. For the affliction Warlock.
- Class Halls:
- They’ll be at a location that strongly represents the class
- The druid class hall will be shown today
- They should be surrounded by nature
- It’s called The Dreamgrove
- The influence of the Emerald Dream can be felt there
- You’ll be able to empower your Artifact in the class hall
- You’ll encounter Class Champions, which are different from garrison followers
- You’ll have a Scouting Map, which will expose new content to you over time
- There will be mini quests like demon hunting and pick pocketing
- There will be special class features
- Hunters: Eagles that will give them access to a special flight network that noone else has
- Druids: Dream portals to travel around
- Warriors: An arena
- Every class will have their own spell like death gate to quickly get to the class hall
- Hunters will be picked up by eagles
- Demon Hunters:
- You can choose your horns, blindfolds, skin customization
- They have new voice overs for things like /silly
- Havoc Spec
- Melee spec
- Fight fire with fire
- Use Fury as a resource, which is like Rage
- Generated by abilities
- used by powerful attacks
- Abilities generate a random amount of Fury (it has a minimum and maximum amount)
- Mobility
- Double Jump
- Glide, it’s like a goblin glider with demon wings.. activated with jump key
- 2 damaging abilities that don’t require a target, and can be done while in the air
- Metamorphosis
- 10 min cd
- Gives 100% leech
- An offensive defensive cooldown
- Vengeance Spec
- Tank spec
- “A demon inquisitor”
- Uses proctive spells and inflicts pain
- Metamorphosis
- A very strong defensive cooldown
- Class Changes in Legion:
- Death knights will now have 1 type of rune, giving you more control over when you want to use your spell
- Fury Warriors will have less ability charges to watch
- Arcane mages’ Arcane charges are now a resource instead of a debuff
- New mastery for arcane mages: Savant increases how much mana you have.
- Survival Hunter
- A melee spec
- Old abilities make their return such as Mongoose Bite
- Discipline Priest
- They are really different from other healers.
- Atonement is now the core healing mechanic.
- Heal through dealing damage to enemies
- Subtlety Rogue
- Shadow Dance
- Every time you do a finishing move you have a chance to re-enter stealth
- New Shadow abilities
- Shadow Dance
- Demonology Warlock
- They should be about summoning demons
- More new minions to summon and to buff them
- Guardian Druid
- Should be a giant wall of grizzly bear.
- They are no longer about dodging.
- They are about increased armor, health and survivability
- Shadow Priest
- They are about tapping into the void
- Their new resource is insanity. (Source of energy of entities like the old gods)
- It will build up to increase their power but will then decrease again
- A lot of talents have been revised
- Few theme rows
- More choices
- More spec-specific talents
- Hundreds of new talents
- Starting Sunday (tommorow) the class blog series will start to explain the changes
- Professions:
- They want to give more profession content to do
- You will want to go out into the world to get new recipes
- Tailoring:
- You’ll meet your trainer in Dalaran
- You’ll have to discover what cloth there is on the Broken Isles
- You’ll meet an inhabitant and have a whole questline surrounding your profession
- On gathering:
- Mining/Herb nodes will be shared, everyone gets the herbs.. no more ninja’ing
- Recipes will have ranks (1, 2 and 3 star recipes)
- Upgraded recipes will need less materials
- Trade skill UI is being revamped..
- It will show which ones you have learned and haven’t yet
- You can favorite recipes
- There is a material Obliterum.
- You’ll get a quest chain at level 110.
- You’ll be able to destroy items you’ve made in a forge to get the material.
- Obliterum will increase the power level of your items.
- Crafted gear should feel special.
- E.g. Equip: Increases run speed by 15% while Enraged.
- Jewelcrafting necklaces will have a guarenteed gem slot.
- Inscription:
- Major Glyphs have been removed
- The DMF cards/trinkets
- Minor glyphs will now be equipped to spells
- New rune type: Vantus Rune
- E.g. Vantus Rune: Xavius, increases damage while fighting Xavius
- Lasts 1 week, can only use 1 per week
- Archeology:
- A months long quest chain
- Cooking:
- You can cook Bacon
- (again quest chain and recipes)
- There is a whole lot more, but they don’t have enough time to cover it all
- Items
- World Drops
- They’re rare and drop from anywhere in the world
- They want to keep them relevant throughout the expansion (including their power)
- They want to give them unique effects
- They’re now legendary!
- They won’t be fully random anymore. More details in the future.
- Every item that drops can drop with increased item level, all the way up to the best item level
- Duplicate Personal loot can be traded!
- World Drops
- Transmog
- As stated in interviews, will work like the D3 system
- It’ll become a collection/wardrobe
- Once the look is unlocked you can delete/sell it
- It’s Account wide
- You do have to equip the item to unlock it.
- Outfits have been added. You can store what you’re wearing, and even share an outfit with other people!
- Every item that’s in your bank/void storage will be automatically added.
- As well as items from every quest you have ever completed! Including items you may not have chosen!
- You can save different looks per class specialization!
- You can hide slots per saved outfit.
- You can hide shoulders!!!!
- Three new transmogable slots!
- Weapon enchants
- Shirts
- Tabards
