Reddit AMA with Ion Hazzikostas, Hotfixes: September 14, 2018, Join Us for a Developer Live Stream Tuesday, September 18

Last night was a busy night in regard to new information regarding the current state of Battle for Azeroth! Game Director Ion Hazzikostas held an AMA on reddit and answered some burning questions from the community. That’s not all though, as next Tuesday Blizzard will hold a livestream detailing what the content of patch 8.1 will entail! In addition to that a new round of hotfixes has gone out increasing the rewards from island expeditions more and changing the rules of earning PvP gear from the conquest chest.

Reddit AMA with Ion Hazzikostas

The AMA covered a whole range of issues from Azerite armor to warfronts and character progression. Below is a summary of the answers, for the full list of detailed answers check out this post that has all the answers neatly organized in a reference table!

  • Blizzad is not entirely happy with how the Azerite System is playing out right now
  • When you get to Heart Level 18 you will at the very least have unlocked the most powerful azerite trait ring on all items
  • Effectively the reduction of amount of Azerite Power you need each week (catch up mechanic) means you’ll earn AP 30% faster.
  • Tuning is currently a big part of the problem in regard to Azerite Powers
  • They’ll be tuning, adding and removing Azerite Powers as needed, the current system is a foundation upon which they will continue to improve and build
  • They are looking at Shamans and what their defined niches should be
  • The droprate for non-azerite rewards such as mounts and pets on Island Expeditions will be greatly increased (hotfix has already gone out)
  • Ion admits that they did a poor job of communicating in advance how the Warfront Rotation would work as it was different on the beta to allow for easier testing
  • A whole warfront cycle should be about 3,5 weeks.
  • This means 4-6 days of donating warfunds, 7 days of the warfront scenario being active with a once per cycle 370 reward and repeatable 340 rewards and finally 11-13 days of zone control to kill the boss, rares and do quests.
  • Over 30000 bugs were entered and tracked over the course of BfA’s Alpha/Beta/Release and 95% of them have been fixed.  When a bug occurs for the player it isn’t always simple to reproduce due to the combination of actions and events that occur. If something is not fixed in time for the release and it occurs for more players it will give blizzard the information they need to reproduce the bug(s) that weren’t solved.
  • There will be a catch up mechanic to the Champions of Azeroth reputation in a future patch.
  • The Paragon Reputation system will return to BfA in a future patch.
  • They are aware of the disparity between Horde and Alliance mounts, this will be rectified as the expansion unfolds. In addition to that the Bee mount was confirmed!
  • They are working on improving their communication towards the community.
  • Next tuesday we’ll get a livestream detailing the biggest content of patch 8.1!

Island Expeditions

  • Substantially increased the drop rates for the various bonus rewards, such as transmog items, pets, quest starters, and mounts.

Player versus Player

  • Starting next week, earning 500 Conquest in a week, regardless of the status of your weekly Rated PvP quest, will also make you eligible for a weekly PvP reward chest. It is strongly recommended that you complete a Rated PvP quest this week to ensure your eligibility for the next chest.
  • Weekly Conquest rewards now display the correct item level inside PvP instances.
  • All ranks of Battleborn Sigil and Warlord’s Trophy should now function as intended and are usable on any Dread Gladiator’s item of lower item level.
  • Fixed a bug that made it possible to receive a lower item-level item than intended from PvP bonus rolls.
  • Shaman
    • Fixed a bug which caused the Shamanism versions of Bloodlust and Heroism to be unable to cast while you are the opposite faction in Rated Battlegrounds.

Uldir Reorigination Array Explained, Hotfixes: September 12, 2018, Blizzcon Virtual Ticket and Goody Bag

Last night plenty of new information was released. The blues explained how the Reorigination Array buff works in Uldir, a buff that will act as an increasing buff over time as long as you’re actively playing Uldir content every week. We also had a new round of hotfixes and the Blizzcon virtual ticket and goody bag are now available for purchase!

Uldir Reorigination Array Explained

Quote from: Blizzard

It is a clever system but I do have some insight to share on how it works. Apologies for the lengthy description but I wanted to explain it given what you pointed out now that I have some information to share on it.

So Reorigination Array is a secondary bonus to traits from Archive of the Titans or Laser Matrix. When those are selected on a piece of Azerite gear that is equipped it provides Reorigination Array. This is a passive buff that is always up while you’re inside the instance.

There is a Reorigination Array hidden quest associated to your character that tracks and gradually improves this buff over time as you progress week over week within Uldir. Every week there is essentially a weekly quest that tracks your kills, and once you kill 3 bosses in Uldir you gain a stack added to Reorigination Array. You do not need a piece for this to track your kills. So if you killed 3 bosses last week and got your piece this week with Archive of the Titans, don’t worry as you’d correctly be at 2 stacks if you killed 3 bosses this week as well. This stacks up to 10 and each stack provides 75 of your highest secondary stat. This also tracks regardless of difficulty so you can even track and obtain the items with these traits on Raid Finder.

Once you obtain a piece you’ll notice the Reorigination Array tooltip changes depending on some certain conditional statuses. If you haven’t killed any bosses this week in Uldir it will read additionally “Defeat 3 more powerful foes in Uldir to increase the effectiveness of Reorigination Array.”. This will be under the current bonus it provides if you have earned any stacks already. As you kill bosses for your weekly count you’ll see this counter go down until it disappears as you’ve earned your 3 needed kills for the week and you’ll instantly get that next stack.

The titan keepers enacted countless systems to detect and contain any breach from the facility. Their most powerful construct, Taloc, kept watch for any signs of corruption in the region and ruthlessly excised any that he found. But as thousands of years passed, its internal defenses began to decay, making it vulnerable to corruption.

Shortly after the Sundering, a dark messenger arrived on the fresh shores of Zandalar, intending to bring the newly isolated tribe into the service of N’Zoth. Zek’voz was prepared to entice, bribe, cajole, corrupt, or simply kill them, but he was not prepared to encounter the defenses of Uldir. He was captured, studied, disassembled, and stored in the Titans’ Archives, where he has waited for a chance to escape.

Mythic Cache Changes From Beta, Hotfixes: September 11, 2018

As you open your mythic caches today you’ll notice that you only get 1 item. The change from beta that let it drop up to 3 items has been reverted. In addition to that we also have a new round of hotfixes including buffs to healing trinkets and a requirement reduction on the Warfront War trait.

Mythic Cache Changes From Beta

Quote from: Blizzard
What about the fact people were expecting 1-3 pieces and no one has confirmed anything over 1.

I’m fairly sure that was for testing purposes. The intent was for it to always work like it did in Legion.

So now we basically have a chance of getting a lower ilvl azurite piece until mythic plus 10 where it’s 5 ilvls better?

I’m looking to get a more philosophical answer on this at the moment for you guys.

Do you have insight into the issue with PvP caches? Some (not all) people are seemingly getting lower than intended item level rewards from their PvP boxes.

Looking into this as well.

Ranked PvP Item Levels

Quote from: Blizzard
Hi guys,

Just to clarify a few more things about the Conquest System:

  • Players who did not finish their Conquest cap this week can resume next week. This means, for example, characters you have who have never earned Conquest this week can, in 3 weeks, progress through 3 weeks worth of the conquest earning 3 items.
  • In order to gain loot for the Weekly Cache (the chest in Mugambala and Hook Point), you must complete your Conquest cap for this week.
  • The Weekly Cache will reward you loot based upon the highest rating achieved in a rated 2v2, 3v3 or Rated Battleground the previous week. This means you could reach Duelist rank, then drop down to Rival and still receive Duelist quality loot.
  • Until the Mythic raid opens, all base item level items are capped at 360 within Mythic+ and Rated PvP. This means that Challenger and above players cannot gain items higher than item level 360 until then.
  • All Dread Gladiator gear – from the weekly Conquest, from the Weekly Cache, from end of match rewards – can have their item level boosted to the rating associated with your current rank using a Battleborn Sigil. Battleborn Sigil’s can be rewarded to you through PvP actiivites, as well as through a repeatable turn-in quest requiring 10 Quartermaster Coins through Xander Silberman at Mugambala and Marshal Gabriel at the salt and Shanty Inn within Hook Point. Quartermaster Coins can be earned if you lose a bonus roll in PvP.
